The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.

Cwl Cymru

There was an article in the Times the other day with the above headline. Eleri has cut out the headline and put it on our fridge along with others we have there such as 'You boys will be the death of me' and 'Rhodri answers bullies'. I didn't get round to reading it but I think the point was that Wales is now cool because of Gavin and Stacey, Duffy, Joe Calzaghe, the Grand Slam, etc. I remember playing the game as a boy - Richard Burton, Tom Jones, David Broome, the Grand Slam, etc. Two problems with this really
1. Wales is always cool
2. It's this sort of thing that could well niggle the English. For every Duffy and Calzaghe there are at least 10 English equivalents and so although Wales undoubtedly outpunches its weight per capita it's not really helpful in the end.
Nevertheless if you like lists of famous Welsh people go here for example. Under Welsh inventors, for example, you get these five interesting men

Never heard of any of them. Well, I did hear about the grand slam actually.
